Yesterday I posted on Facebook a sneak peek at what I was working on. This project was perfect for my 8 year old daughter to make AND it’s super easy and she had a blast! I really wanted her to be a part of the the gift giving this year. What’s the point of giving a gift without some thought and effort into it? Right?
I had some scrap wood left over from some other projects. And over the summer I went to a sale and the guy had a 5 gallon pail of yard sticks he was selling. There were probably 70 of them and I bought all!! Yes, he did ask me “what in the world was I going to do with all of them”. I didn’t know, until now.
So I figured out a good size box. I figured it could be a plant holder, kleenex box holder, or a catch all. I pre-cut all my wood and brought everything in from the bitter cold so we could work on it inside.
We built the box, then started adding the rulers.
As you can see, she thought this was just great!
She even got to try out the finish nailer.
Then she finished by sanding down the edges for a smooth finish.
All finished! She was very proud about her project! And only took us about an hour.
Super fun and easy right?!
